Call the Admission Office at 617-964-7765 to receive written
materials and to arrange a school visit. Children entering
kindergarten must be at least five years old by October 1 of the
kindergarten year. Come to any Open House and find out more
about SSDS.
Submit an Application
An application begins the process for your child to enroll for the following school year.
Complete the application and return it to Schechter with a $100 application fee (non-refundable, made payable to SSDS).
Schechter will mail you an AISNE student form and a student release form to be filled out by your child's present teacher and mailed back to our Admission Office. Copies of report cards are requested for upper school entrants.
Arrange for a Screening or School Visit
Prospective kindergarteners and first graders will be screened for grade and developmental readiness. Screenings begin in January; screening dates will be mailed in December.
Students applying for grades 2-8 will spend a school day at Schechter in their present grade. During their visit they will be evaluated by members of our General studies support services staff and Judaic studies staff.
Around the time of screening, the Admission Director will give parents a questionnaire to complete about their child’s development and learning style.
Apply for Financial Aid (optional)
Financial Aid is Schechter's tuition Financial Aid program, which helps make the school financially accessible to families.
Financial Aid information will be mailed in December/January. If you will be applying for Financial Aid, please note the deadline date of February 12, 2008. Applications presented after this date will be considered on a funds available basis.
Receive Notification
Decision letters will be mailed on March 10, 2008. Financial Aid notification will be mailed on March 21 (to families who met the February 12 deadline.)
Join the Schechter Community!
Upon receipt of acceptance and letter and notification of Financial Aid, you may secure a place for your child at Schechter by sending a $500 reservation fee and a $1000 deposit. (The reservation fee is returnable upon request when the child leaves the school, provided that the child has attended for at least one year.) The deposit is credited toward tuition.
We invite new families to attend a reception for incoming kindergarten and first grade students to be held in the spring. New second and third graders can arrange a visiting time through the Director of Admission. Students in grades 4-8 are invited to join their new classmates for Step-Up Day in June.
