Schechter’s two campuses are home to an impressive 97,146 square feet of versatile, athletic indoor and outdoor space—including both an indoor and outdoor regulation-size artificial grass soccer field.

Students have 45-minute gym periods with one of our three skilled Athletics Department faculty members. Early Childhood and Kindergarten meet once a week, and Grades 1-8 meet twice weekly. Schechter’s physical education curriculum is as focused on confidence-building and respectful sportsmanship as it is on healthy activity, and movement. We teach social and emotional learning through physical activity and overall fitness. Students learn how to play specific sports alongside favorite games such as gaga, kickball and “capture the flag.”

There is plenty of pride for the Panthers! Middle Division (grades 6-8) students can try out for five spirited junior varsity and varsity teams: soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, flag football and Ultimate Frisbee. Games are held after school to a crowd of cheering, clapping students and parents, both on and off campus. Panther teams compete against many area private and day schools. Schechter’s basketball teams participate in the yearly Jewish Day School League Tournament.

Another much-anticipated annual event is the Faculty vs. 8th Grade Basketball Game, which is characterized by a determined, all-out effort on both sides and raucous rooting from the student body.
