Coffee and Conversation
This parent discussion and coffee hour series is
moderated
by the Lower School Counselor and meets
monthly at
the Lower School. Schechter parents are invited
to share questions,
concerns and strategies with each
other
over a cup of coffee in an informal and supportive
environment. Topics include social issues and friendship,
homework, finding time for parents, sibling rivalry,
encouraging independence in our children and helping our children develop their talents. The topics reflect the needs of the parent group and are open to additions or repeats of previous years’ most helpful topics.
Schechter Reads
One of many programs through which Schechter fosters adult learning, Schechter Reads brings together parents and noted authors to discuss books on issues related to child rearing.

Rosh Hodesh Book Club
In these book club style get-togethers, members of the adult community join in parents’ homes to discuss books with a Jewish theme. The gatherings are informal, but with lively discussion. There are three book selections over the course of the year with themes such as “One Faith, Many Faces: Racially Diverse Jews” and “Transformation and Survival: Jewish Memoirs of the Holocaust.”
