At Solomon Schechter, we honor the creative spirit of our students and treat arts education as a core value in our educational process. From the time students cross our threshold to their final processional at graduation, the arts are woven throughout the daily lives of our children. Schechter provides a strong and vibrant arts education to every student in every grade, both within the classrooms and in art studios with specialists. Our highly trained arts faculty focus developmentally on art, music and dance skills, history, and techniques.
Visual Arts
Our goal is to enhance each child's observation skills, imagination, and visual perception. Children are guided towards self-expression through a wide variety of art materials and genres. Elements of form, color, line, and texture are explored through many modalities and techniques, and are given historical context as students learn about the art of the great masters and from different cultures. Each grade has an opportunity to discover the joy of different artistic genres. Both campuses have state of the art studios with kilns.
Performing Arts
Schechter's choirs and dance troupes perform throughout the Boston area, singing at the Massachusetts State House, nursing homes, and community festivals, and dancing at the annual Israeli Folk Dance Festival. Schechter students have recorded a CD with the Zamir Chorale, and showcase their musical talents at the annual spring school recitals. Students may also participate in jazz/rock bands and a recorder ensemble. Instrumental music lessons are offered through our Afterschool Enrichment program.

Art and Prayer
Connections between body, mind, and spirit are consciously addressed in limud groups (morning study sessions) through meditation, art and yoga offerings.
