Athletics

Schechter’s indoor and outdoor playing fields are filled almost every day with happy, energetic children. School day physical education classes are complemented by afterschool offerings. Our very popular Sunday soccer program involves scores of children and their parents each fall and spring. Afterschool Enrichment offers classes in karate, flag football, lacrosse, tennis, and swimming. The Afterschool Sports Program for grades 4 and 5 has been modified to provide a more rigorous and exciting opportunity for your children. This year the schedule is aligned with the middle school varsity sports schedule. Students register for this program on the Afterschool Registration site.

Schechter’s athletic program is both fun and instructive, challenging each child to progress according to his or her ability while stressing cooperation and sportsmanship. As our student athletes play, they develop leadership and teamwork skills as well as school pride.

The Afterschool Sports program for Middle Division students in grades 6-8 includes both Interscholastic Varsity teams where students play other private schools and Intramural Junior Varsity teams where Schechter students are formed into teams and play each other. Student athletes in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to try out for varsity athletics run by Bill Ferreira, Interscholastic Athletic Director. All students are welcome to play on the Junior Varsity intramural teams.
