Why do you collect these objects?

Student 1: I collect football cards because it's my favorite sport. I like the designs and the people and the stats on them.

Student 2: I collect hair things because I like putting my hair up. I’ve been doing it since I’ve been a young girl.

Student 3: I collect livestrong bracelets because they have really nice colors. The messages are really cool.

Student 4: I collect livestrongs because it’s just fun collecting. I just like how the bracelets are all different.

Student 5: I collect keychains because it’s really original. Most people don’t collect keychains.

Student 6: I really don’t have a favorite card. There’s too much. I like collecting baseball cards because it randomly comes to you.  You don’t have to look for a certain card.  It just comes to you. I like that.

Do you have a special object in your collection? What makes it special?

Student 1: I like the Tom Brady Rookie card because it is of my favorite team and one of my favorite players. I got it when I was about five years old from my Dad.

Student 2: I have two. One is from friend Shira. It’s purple and white. She's my good friend and that makes it special.  My other one is brown and it's very soft and sort of velvety.

Student 3: I have one that says "I love New York." My mom got it for me when she went to NY. A lot of my family lives in NY, my grandparents and cousins. I love going there because it's so big.

Student 4: I have a bracelet that has fake diamonds on it. I think that it’s kind of cool and colorful. It has one of the most important words in the English language. It has "Love."

Student 5: My favorite one is one that has the letter "Y" on it with little googly eyes and a mouth on it. My dad got it for me on one of his business trips. It looks really pretty when you hold it up to the light. I like it because it’s the first letter of my name.     

What do you do with your collection? Where do you keep it?

Student 1: I keep them in a safe place in a box. I sometimes trade them with my older brother Adam who is fifteen. Sometimes I just like to share them with other people. That's one of the reasons I am putting them in the library.

Student 2: I keep my collection in my room. Every time I need a hair thing I know where to find it.

Student 3: I keep my collection in this drawer with a lot of my toys. Sometimes I wear them. Once I wore a whole armful. It hurt my arm but it was funny.

Student 4: I keep it in a plastic bag. I have little drawers in my room and that’s where I keep the plastic bag. I wear my collection.

Student 5: I keep it in a white big box that has my name on it. I look at them because there are a lot of colors on them that make me happy.
