Founded in 1961, the Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Boston offers a comprehensive curriculum in general and Judaic studies for children ages 15 months through eighth grade. Located in Newton, Massachusetts, Schechter is one of the oldest Jewish day schools in the Boston area, celebrating its 55th anniversary in 2016.

Current Openings:

EARLY CHILDHOOD TODDLER AND PRE-SCHOOL TEACHERS: Schechter’s Early Childhood Program, Gan Shelanu, is seeking toddler and pre-school teachers and assistant teachers for its summer 2018 program and the 2018-2019 school year. The ideal candidates must be warm, nurturing, fun loving and hold a minimum of a Massachusetts EEC teacher certification and a Bachelor’s degree (only required for school year positions). Two years’ experience strongly preferred. Experience working with a dual Judaic and secular curriculum preferred. There are both full and part-time positions. HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST: Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO), and working in conjunction with an HR Consultant, the Human Resources Generalist will provide day-to-day management of the human resources work of the School. MATH COACH:  The Math Coach will provide embedded and ongoing professional development to staff. Major responsibilities include developing and assessing curriculum, identifying instructional resources, mentoring new teachers, and coaching teachers on instructional strategies and differentiated instruction. The Math coach will help teachers develop, adapt and evaluate curriculum; mentor new teachers or those new to a subject or grade level; encourage the use of instructional technology to differentiate instruction and work within classrooms with small groups of students. MIDDLE SCHOOL SPANISH/SOCIAL STUDIES EDUCATOR: This opening is for a full-time educator who is able to teach both Spanish and Social Studies to middle school students.  Our school is comprised of highly motivated students who are capable of achieving in an environment with high expectations. Classes are small and inquiry based instruction is emphasized. Teachers are supported in their professional development and interdisciplinary collaboration is encouraged. Applicants must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree; at least three years’ experience teaching students preferably in a middle school setting; have a strong educational background and exemplary teaching skills. Excellent salary and benefits.
