Madregot Program: Transitioning to Schechter After Kindergarten
Stepping Up to a Jewish Education
Every year, Schechter welcomes an average of two dozen students in first through eighth grades. Faculty, staff members and fellow students are committed to helping new students feel at home at Schechter
New students in Grades 1-8 come to Schechter with a wide range of academic backgrounds, general and Judaic. Transfer students and their families hail from all over the country and the world, from Boston and other local public schools as well as other private institutions.
We are proud to offer differentiated instruction that opens doors to Schechter's unique combination of rich Judaic studies and unparalleled general studies program. Schechter welcomes students with little or nor Hebrew background.
Families are invited to visit Schechter for a tour and interview. As part of the admission process, prospective transfer students spend a day at Schechter shadowing a grade-level Schechter buddy and experiencing a vibrant, energetic typical school day. During this visit, prospective students are assessed by one of our faculty members in general and Judaic studies.
"When I came to Schechter in 6th grade, I was nervous because I didn’t know anyone. The moment I stepped through the doors, I knew I’d fit in right away because the kids treated me like family. Schechter has become my second home." - Ben Schwartz '14 |
