Ellen Agulnick, Lower Division Principal
Ellen Agulnick is Gan Shelanu's founding director, bringing the program to Boston's Jewish community in the fall of 2011. Before Gan Shelanu, Ellen was the nursery school director at Congregation Mishkan Tefila (CMT) in Chestnut Hill. Her 30 years of administrative and teaching experience include her role at CMT, serving as assistant director and lead teacher at Temple Beth Avodah Preschool in Newton, teaching fifth grade and an ESL after-school program in Newton Public Schools and spending a year at Schechter as an assistant teacher. In 2016, Ellen assumed the role of Schechter's Lower Division Principal, overseeing Schechter's early childhood program and grades K-3.
Ellen holds a Bachelor's in psychology and elementary education from Brandeis University and a Master's in Jewish education from Hebrew College. She holds several certificates including: MA EEC Director II Certification; MA Elementary Education Certification, and a Certificate in Jewish Early Childhood Education from Hebrew College.
Deborah Moukit, Early Childhood Program Assistant Principal
Deborah (Debbie) Moukit assumed the role of Assistant Principal in the fall of 2016, managing the day-to-day operations under Ellen Agulnick's leadership. Debbie has over 18 years of experience in both early childhood and elementary settings. She received a bachelor’s in education from Lesley University and holds Massachusetts state certifications in early childhood administration and elementary education. Debbie brings expertise, warmth and spirit to our youngest learners and has much to offer in her new role.
