We are thrilled to welcome you to the Boston area!

Moving to the Boston area?

Consider what it would be like to live in one of the most progressive states and cities in the country. U.S. News and World Report recently crowned Massachusetts with a "Top Ten" ranking as the best place to live in the United States. Boston is a vigorous and innovative birthing ground for high tech, venture capital and industry. The city bursts with a vibrant cultural scene and the greatest concentration of premier universities and hospitals in the world. For young families, Boston’s extensive park system, walkability and safety make it an attractive option. Without a doubt, this youngest of major American metropolitan areas has earned its nickname as The Hub.

Now imagine being immersed in the energy that is the Boston area and its suburbs and having your family at Schechter with its abiding commitment to intellectual curiosity and rigor, inspired Jewish learning and a love of Israel.

Like Boston itself, Schechter weaves together tradition and transformation creating an indelible experience. This is life full circle.

We’re the total package.

Schechter is the place where you can have it all: an exceptional, cross-disciplinary education in general and Judaic studies, an unparalleled afterschool program and unwavering attention to each student’s whole self.

Here you will find that your child learns the value of doing the right thing, not just the value of a math equation. Your child will find friends for a lifetime and you will find an adult community. Perhaps your child will run a full court press on Schechter’s varsity basketball team or run an experiment in one of our five labs. From our 15-month-olds who are new to the world to our 8th-graders who who ready to take on the world, Schechter’s students are passionate, bright and confident.

Though located in Newton, Schechter draws from over 30 different communities which is why we offer multiple, free transportation stops in five different regions: Newton; Metrowest (Framingham, Natick, Wellesley and Needham); South Area (Sharon and Stoughton); Brookline; and MetroNorth (Cambridge, Lexington, Waltham). In addition to our demographic breadth, we embrace same-sex couples and single parents, families of all Jewish denominations, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

Let Schechter be your concierge.

Families new to Schechter and the area have many questions as they prepare to move or settle in. Our expertise in welcoming new families ranges from organizing Shabbat dinners, recommending kosher bakeries to suggesting family-friendly activities. We are eager to help you understand the vibe of various neighborhoods and to navigate the abundance of synagogue options. Between our Office of Admission and tight-knit community, there is a wealth of support, outreach and information.

At first Schechter will be your home away from home and, in no time, simply your home.
