Kindergarten–Grade 2 Teacher Parental Leave (Full Time 2026–2027)
Schechter Boston seeks an experienced educator to join our early elementary team as a Parental Leave Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The specific grade will be determined at a later date. This is an opportunity for a flexible and skilled teacher who is excited to step into an established classroom community, collaborate closely with colleagues, and ensure continuity of high-quality teaching and learning.
This role is ideal for an educator who understands early childhood and lower elementary development, designs joyful and intellectually meaningful learning experiences, and is committed to knowing each child deeply.
Position Responsibilities
Design, plan, and implement developmentally appropriate lessons that foster curiosity, play, inquiry, and foundational academic skills.
Step into an existing classroom environment and maintain continuity in routines, curriculum, and expectations.
Create active learning experiences that support early literacy, numeracy, social-emotional learning, and Jewish life.
Differentiate instruction, activities, and assessments to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners.
Build strong, trusting relationships with students so they feel safe, known, and engaged.
Establish and maintain a warm, organized, and well-structured classroom environment.
Collaborate closely with grade-level colleagues, specialists, and instructional coaches to ensure alignment and consistency.
Communicate effectively and proactively with families, including during transitions related to the leave coverage.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required and Master’s Degree in Teaching (preferred).
Massachusetts Teaching Certification (preferred).
Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in early childhood or elementary settings (K–2 strongly preferred).
Demonstrated flexibility and ability to step into an existing classroom midstream while maintaining strong instructional practice.
Strong understanding of social-emotional learning and child development.
Excellent instructional skills, classroom management, and reflective practice.
Comfort working in a Jewish school environment (Jewish background welcome but not required).
