Early Childhood Summer Program Teacher- The Gan

The Gan, located at 60 Stein Circle Newton, MA, is seeking talented, energetic, and nurturing Certified Early Childhood Teachers to join our summer program team. We are hiring teachers for our Toddler, Preschool and PreK classrooms. Teachers work collaboratively with colleagues to create a safe, joyful, and engaging summer experience for young children through play-based learning, outdoor activities, creative exploration, and relationship-building.

Position Overview

The Early Childhood Summer Program Teacher is responsible for creating a warm, inclusive, and engaging classroom community during the summer program. Teachers support children’s social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development through developmentally appropriate summer activities and routines. Teachers foster strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues while helping create a fun and positive summer environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Foster a caring, respectful, and joyful classroom culture

  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that supports each child’s well-being

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate summer activities including art, sensory play, music, movement, outdoor play, water play, storytelling, and creative exploration

  • Support children’s social-emotional development, peer interactions, and self-regulation

  • Maintain consistent classroom routines and supervise children throughout the day

  • Observe children’s needs and respond thoughtfully and attentively

  • Build positive relationships with children and families

  • Communicate professionally and warmly with parents and caregivers both in person as well as using the Brightwheel communication platform.

  • Collaborate closely with co-teachers, counselors, and program leadership

  • Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and maintaining organized learning spaces

  • Follow all health, safety, and licensing guidelines and procedures

  • Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the summer program community

  • Able to spend substantial time outdoors and lift up to 40 lbs 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; background in education or early childhood education preferred

  • EEC Certification required

  • Experience working with young children in a school, camp, childcare, or summer program setting preferred

  • CPR/First Aid certification a plus

Schedule and Compensation

  • Summer program dates: June 29, 2026-August 21, 2026 (We are looking for candidates with 3-8 weeks of availability)

  • Hours: 7:45AM-4:15PM

  • Competitive hourly rate $20-$30/hour; commensurate with experience and certification
